The board of directors of the loan fund and local communities assistance (CPACL) stemming from the Interior Ministry meeting in the 2011 second session, approved the financing of 137 projects for the benefit of 84 municipalities and 8 regional councils.

A global amount worth 32 million dinars were allocated to these projects, including 18 million dinars under the shape of assistance and 11.5 million dinars reserved to the local communities of the western and southern border governorates. Accordingly, the total CPACL's fund during the first five months of 2011 amounts to 44 million dinars, including 26 million dinars of assistance to face up to the situation in the country since the Revolution, noted an Interior Ministry's communiqué.

The board of directors also tackled the report of the fund's regional activity in Gafsa, which encompasses the governorates of Gafsa, Sidi Bouzid, Tozeur, Kébili and Kasserine. 26 investment projects worth 7.4 million dinars, including 6.3 million dinars of assistance, were granted to the local communities of these governorates, specifies the same source.

Interior Minister Habib Essid called on to re-establish regional balance by focusing efforts on the municipalities and the governorates of the western and southern border and the less developed areas.

He stressed the importance to guide special municipal delegations and assist the local communities to elaborate, achieve and follow their priority projects, in particular those pertaining to the improvement of the citizens' living conditions.
